What is Zephras Isle?

Zephras Isle is the level 1–12 starting experience for the playable Skyborne. Blizzard also calls the Skyborne the shen’dorei, or hidden people.

The Skyborne descend from rebels who fled Eldre’Thalas after the War of the Ancients. They eventually reached Skywall, where wind spirits anchored their island home in the elemental plane.

The starting-zone crisis

By the time players arrive, the Skyborne’s elemental benefactors have disappeared. The pylons holding Zephras together are failing, and parts of the island are falling into ruin and darkness.

  • The Windshapers are one of the groups competing for control.
  • The High Order is another named group in the conflict.
  • The Al’Aketh is the third group named by Blizzard.

Faction and class paths

Players choose whether their Skyborne joins the Horde or Alliance. Horde-aligned Skyborne gain access to Shaman, while Alliance-aligned Skyborne gain access to Mage. Both paths can also choose Warrior, Hunter, Rogue or Druid.

Blizzard has also announced Skyborne racials, customizations, voices, dances, visual options and race-specific Druid forms. The checked sources do not publish the complete racial abilities or customization catalogue.

Blizzard describes Zephras Isle as a self-contained experience. The checked sources do not explain where characters travel when the starting story ends or whether later characters can return freely.

Released Zephras Isle screenshots

What remains open
